Women in Cambodia are using condoms not only for safe sex but also for something else. Who would have thought they could also use the rubber’s lubricant for curing acne? There must have been a moment of inspired madness for whoever discovered that gem of insight, condom in hand and curiosity in mind. Produced by Population Services International, the “sperm jacket”, or whatever way you want to call it, was designed for “sex workers and gay men.” Chances are, either a homosexual male or a sex worker had the spark of brightness, like a bulb that switches on in the dead of the night. Or it could be just any other woman in Phnom Penh who took the guts or instinct to experiment with the lubricant, preferably by pouring the liquid on her face after some time of deep contemplation like a Buddhist monk.
