Good Athletes = Good Country (?)

Is there a real connection between sports and your life? Put in more familiar shoes, do we get a better life everytime Manny Pacquiao jams a knuckle sandwich with his left sinker to his opponent’s throat—preferably Mexican—and bags the bacon, if not the whole swine? Do our senses elated from the glorious triumphs of the boxing icon spin us into a workaholic state, shoving fat paychecks into our purses at the end of the day?
