This is in-line with the brand aligning of Microsoft as they prepare to launch Windows Live Groups. However, MSN Groups will not be migrated to WLG, but rather to Multiply – the 8th Largest Social Network.

Microsoft should have gotten rid of MSN Groups a long time ago. It really doesn’t compare to what Yahoo and Google provide (i.e., Yahoo and Google Groups). So, I would assume that the new Windows Live Groups will be very similar to those and will connect to other Windows Live properties.
My company, Convos, also has an online group service which is like a more robust version of Yahoo Groups. If you are looking for a new service to use, you can check us out to see if we’re a good fit.

First of all, MSN would not have had a decline in MSN Groups had it not left it alone. When they stopped MSN Chat Rooms, that is where it all started, then the updates that really messed everyone up. The old saying of “If it ain’t broken, leave it alone” holds true, especially in this case. MSN really screwed themselves, they have no one else to blame.
