Ateneo de Davao’s No Permit No Exam Policy
While I was doing my assignment at the The Gazebo of our school the other week with my classmates, we were approached by 3 higher year students. They introduced theirselves to us and asked us whether they could ask something from us. What’s the point of asking? You’re actually doing it, right? Kidding aside, we don’t have a choice, but of course to say yes. It would be very rude of us to hesitate. We simply dont want to be disturbed while doing our Accounting assignment which is supposed to be done at home, haha.
Going back. They discussed about the most controversial issue that the entire Ateneo de Davao community is talking about, the No Permit- No Exam Policy.
The NP-NE policy was said to have been approved months ago and will soon take full effect in the University this coming semester.
The bottomline of the conversation is that, they’re doing a signature campaign to hinder the administration from putting NP-NE into action. And so we’ve signed a long piece of paper with many students already signed before us. I understand that as I signed it, it also follows that I oppose the said policy.
I oppose the policy because it will also affect me as a stockholder of this university. But I must admit, that I also understand the position of our university, financialy to be specific. But the man rebutted and told us that the Ateneo have sources of fund other than the precious students’ tuition fees.
He emphasized that the Admin has enough funds to compensate for other expenses of the university.
Well for me, I’m just an ordinary Atenista who’s been doing my job well, studying to make my mother, who’s been paying my tuition, proud. She may not say it directly to me, but I know she’s working so hard to earn more or less Php 7000 every exam.
I’ve just took the final exam yesterday, and I’ll be taking Final Exams for the rest of my subjects tomorrow until ….
