Prediction on Red Mobile

Yesterday, Nov. 22, 2008, was the launching of Red Mobile. It’s a rebranding of umobile.
It’s a prepaid service offering 0.50/min call and text rate red to
red. Sounds cheap?

Guess again! I was excited at first but when i read that the sim will only on 3G phones, i was dismayed. Not only that but, the internet browsing, which most mobile users are beginning to use costs 7.50/min.

So before you get the benefit of the low rate, you have to shell out around 5K for a 3G phone and ask your friends to do the same.

Now, anyone still interested?

Umm.. I think the PhP7.50/min internet browsing that you mentioned in your blog titled “Prediction on Red Mobile” dated November 23, 2008 is incorrect. It says on some sites that internet browsing for Red Mobile is PhP7.50 per 15 minutes.

hi RJ. thank you for noticing my typographical error. it is 7.50/15 minutes which is, still high compared to other two networks’ price for internet browsing. :-(

  3. barbie says:

what’s the 50 cents per minute? is it supposed to be red to red mobile only? or could you also call other networks for the same rate?

  4. transformer says:

barbie, the 50c is for red to red mobile only. for other networks they are charging 6.50 per minute if i’m not mistaken :-(
remember that the red mobile sim will work only on 3G phones.
