Why Filipinos eat Balut?

Why do Filipinos eat Balut? What is Balut? Balut is a popular Filipino delicacy snack  and is a duck egg thats not fully developed, probably 10 to 20 days old. Growing up in the Philippines, I was accustomed to eating balut especially in the evening time as a snack. Balut is a street vendor snack, very popular in the cities but also in small communities. Balut is like eating a hotdog in America. Vendors would push carts full of Balut shouting, “baluuuuttttttttttt.” I prefer eating...
