Stop Motion

There’s just that one moment that Makati doesn’t seem so congested, where you won’t run across random strangers or tired office workers.  The underpasses offer that very short moment of silence and solitude… until someone from Ayala Avenue or Makati Avenue makes his or her way down the overpass and disturbs your peace. Maybe an office worker without a long weekend.  Maybe a tourist exploring the maze that is the Makati pedestrian system.  Or maybe someone from maintenance,...

SMM and SMO: Is there a difference?

The terms SMM and SMO are frequently used together, and there is a little confusion around the net as to the difference between the two. SMO, standing for social media optimisation, is a term that has been getting increasing mentions since it was coined in 2006. The term is often used in conjunction with SMM; so much so that you could be forgiven in thinking the two are interchangeable. This is not so. While there is a little debate about where the two concepts cross over each other, social media...

Saudis and their departed

Saudi's burial rites are straight, simple and austere.Today in the Philippines, all feet lead to cemeteries. Not in Saudi.A Saudi colleague said that they never revisit the graves of the dead. I tend to believe him because I've seen a Saudi cemetery and the grounds are unmarked. (He even said that they never keep a picture of their dearly departed). When it comes to burying the dead, Saudis have the simplest rites and the shortest mourning period. When King Fahd bin Abdel Aziz al-Saud died in 2005,...

Lyrics Freakin’ Translations

I haven’t done this in a while, so I’m probably very rusty. For this long overdue attempt in lyrics translations, I’m looking over some songs in my iTunes music library that could probably be translated.  Not that translated songs are more awesome than the original, but you never know what the outcome will be until you finally translate it, and “proofread” it by actually singing it.  However, that is something that I will never do again, except in closed-door videoke...
