Araw Ng Mga Patay

Growing up in America where Halloween seems to be more important than Christmas, I always wondered if there was a day that was equivalent to this Western tradition in the Philippines. Araw ng mga Patay is a major holiday in the Philippines which falls on November 1st. Araw ng mga Patay means “Day of the Dead,” and has more of a "family reunion" atmosphere rather than giving chocolate or candies to trick-or-treaters.
