I turned 21

This year I turned 21.
In a hurry, I left home, emancipated.
And didn’t come home as anticipated.
I saw the day lose its sun,
and saw in it a metaphor
a way of understanding what everything else stood for.
I fell in love
and had my heart torn to bits
I lost my balance, my serenity, my wits.
