It appears that absence from the country is not stopping Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson from seeping his political claws into the presidential race as he has been staging underhanded efforts to seat one of the top three candidates in Malacanang. This much was proven when anti-Villar statements and stories have prominently decorated local tabloids and broadsheets in Metro Manila for the past few weeks.
An unimpeachable source disclosed that Lacson has directed three top caliber public relations personalities to undertake intensified media propaganda against Senator Manny Villar and also work in counteracting the waning preference of voters to Liberal Party standard bearer Senator Noynoy Aquino. The strategy, according to the source, involves employing writers and columnist who would calculatedly write slanted articles on Villar and his alleged involvement on various land conversion scandals. The minimum payment for such an article is P10,000.00 for tabloid writers, with the rate tipping the scale toward gargantuan amounts for prominent columnist of national broadsheets.
Such a tactic is deemed quite normal given that electoral strategists from big political parties have mastered this line of attack and has expertly carried this out every election period in our country. However, what is disturbing with Lacson’s strategy is the fact that he has been using drug money to finance such an activity, an important detail that apparently has been left out every time a writer or a columnist is approached by his three musketeers of PR men. It was learned that Lacson’s strong connection with highly placed drug lords in Pasay, Cebu and Binondo has successfully facilitated the transfer of funds from their bottomless monetary chests to that of the pockets of unwitting media writers.
At the other end of the rope, the Liberal Party, it seems, is unaware that such dirty money has been going around for their benefit. Thinking that the high heavens are probably on their side, the backers of Noynoy have with no second thought naturally welcomed the media onslaught against the so-called staunch rival of their candidate. However, unbeknownst to them and even Noynoy Aquino, these “unexpected” blessing was really a deliberate move to woo and lure the Liberal Party standard bearer and purposely “help” him towards a victorious win in the May 2010 elections.
For Lacson a victory for Noynoy means a highly probable escape from his criminal culpability in the double murder of Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and Emmanuel Corbito as he – through his secret minions – has been slowly but most assuredly fixing his “hold” on the neophyte presidentiable.
