Team Philippines is 3rd in Ragnarok World Championships

Sadly, we didn’t bring home the gold but Team Armada-Philippines, official RP team to the Ragnarok World Championships 2007 held at the Lotte Activity Center in Seoul, Korea, took the bronze medal after defeating Germany 2-0.

Team Philippines lost to the Korea National team 2-0 in the bid for one of two finals slots. Korea went on to battle Thailand (who defeated Germany) for the finals. Thailand went to upset the host country 3-1 in their best-of-five finals match to become the 2007 RWC Champions!.

This is the best finish yet for our country in the second installment of the international Ragnarok tournament. The RWC 2007 ends today and the Philippine contingent will fly back to Manila tomorrow, July 23, 2007.

Movie Review: Die Hard 4.0

You can’t put down a real action hero like John McClane.

And in Die Hard 4.0, Bruce Willis definitely shows us that even if he’s 51, there’s still much that he can do to bring justice to the legacy which is Die Hard.

I saw the movie with a couple of officemates last week and I was literally blown away. After having a blast in Transformers, June and July may just prove to be the best movie-months this year.

Apple iPhone in RP by 2008?

I’m sure you’ve gone “oohh” and “ahhh” over the Apple iPhone.

For some (and for me), it’s the perfect mobile phone – Ever. Period. Now, are you wondering when the iPhone will be released for the Philippines? Sorry, but it’s not this year. T_T

Unfortunately, AT&T has a deal with Apple for an apperent lock-down on exclusive rights as telco in the United States. The iphone was released in the US last June 29 in what Steve Jobs and company dubbed, the most succesful product intro of the 21st century.

Pinoy-made Video Games

What better way to celebrate Philippine Indepence Day (June 12) than to discuss the legacy of Filipinos when it comes video game design, right?

Well, in the forefront of the news are Anino Games (formerly Anino Entertainment) – best known for the game Anito (which I wrote about ages back when I was working for Fast Forward magazine) and Flipside – these talented guys (led by my good friend Gabby Dizon) dabbles in servicing international clients for casual games.

Paris Hilton Mugshot

Last night, while chatting with a friend, we discussed Paris’ jail time in California for drunk driving. And my friend mentioned that he saw Paris’ mugshot… which looked more like a magazine cover shot than an actual mugshot

Toys: Transformers VT6

Toys and action figures are close to my heart. And when I saw this cool official Transformers toy (from Hasbro, of course) via kotaku, it sent a smile to my face. Now that Transformers the movie is scheduled to show on July 4, it also brought back a lot of memories from my childhood.

Well, this model doesn’t belong to the echelons of Optimus Prime, Megatron or Starscream (but shhh… when I was a kid, my favorite was Soundwave). Guys, meet Powerup VT6!

You won’t guess what it transforms to. Take a peek after the jump…

Razorback Composes Song for Online Game

Popular pinoy rock band Razorback led by their lead vocals, Kevin Roy (who by the way is a certified “RF addict”), recently composed a song for the Accretian race. Their song, entitled “Empire Accretia” was commissioned by RF Online  a sci-fi Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) by Level Up. The song features heavy guitar riffs, pounding bass lines, furious drums and Kevin Roy’s trademarked voice.“We  tried to make the song “universal”  in such a way that not only the players of RF Online would appreciate it. Pati na rin yung ibang listeners madadamay.” Kevin said when asked how they came up with the song.

More about the song and a link to an interview with Kevin Roy after the jump.

Google Buys Feedburner

In a bid perhaps to put its mighty paws into the blogosphere, tech giant Google has announced that it is acquiring Feedburner.

The announcement was made at Google’s official blog last June 1, 2007:

“As you know, we’re constantly looking for ways to identify and offer new tools for content creators and website publishers. Likewise, we constantly aim to give AdWords advertisers broader distribution to an even wider audience of users. For these reasons, we’re very pleased to tell you that we’ve just acquired FeedBurner.”

Actually, I’m quite happy with the current feedburner service for my blog on Philippine online games and mmorpg. And methinks that with Google’s leadership and vast reach, feedburner will get the mileage and mainstream-effect that it truly deserves. I predict that in the coming weeks, the feedburner feature will be directly integrated into our google accounts as an additional app. I wonder how the migration of accounts will be made?

Imaging going to a summer outing… and of course, you plan to bring your gadgets with you – your iPod, your cellphone, your laptop, your PDA and maybe even your Nintendo DS or your PSP. Chances are, your backpack will be filled to the brim with unsightly (and unwieldy) strands of chargers.

Now, you can forget all that! Announcing the new Chargepod. It lets you use interchangeable power adapters to safely charge all of your mobile devices regardless of manufacturer or model.
