My Christmas Wishlist

It’s Christmas, woohoo. Merry Christmas everyone! A few days ago, I’ve realized that material things don’t matter much to me anymore. It was only until yesterday, a day before Christmas, when I realized my Christmas won’t be complete without those material things. So here’s...

Coffee and Depression

I never believed in the power of coffee as an effective stimulant. Ever since I started to drink coffee, it always failed its “purpose”, to wake me up. Yes it wakes me up but for a very short period of time only, after which I feel sleepy or depressed. Yesterday afternoon, I had three doses...

New Rendition of UP Naming Mahal

Yesterday, me and my sister swapped laptops. While browsing her music library, I saw this interesting song, UP Naming Mahal. I listened to it and I could describe my amazement indescribable. D

It was a new rendition (version) of the U.P. Naming Mahal performed by Noel Cabangon, Cooky Chua, Chikoy Pura, Gary Granada and Bayang Barrios. (read more: A New Rendition of U.P. Naming Mahal via Build that Geek)

Google thru Mozilla Firefox tagged PRC.GOV.PH an attack site

A while ago while surfing through the different reviews made on the PRC Board Exam Results [dot] com, I encountered this link to http://www.prc.gov.ph/, the official Professional Regulation Commission website.

I tried accessing the site when suddenly my newly installed Mozilla Firefox 3 Release Candidate warned me with this screen:

The Blog Readership Index Project

Hey guys.

It’s Mikko again on a new project, the Blog Readership Index Project. Hope you’ll participate. :D
Here’s an excerpt from the project’s home (I created it anyway):

What is Blog Readership Index?

Overview

Graphs, graphs and graphs.

Isn’t it lovely to see the Philippine Stock Exchange Index rise and fall? How about making one for blogs? Let me call it the Blog Readership Index.

Yes, again I’m starting a new project. I’ve coded the backend’s core, frontend’s not finished.

Blog Readership Index aims to be a good measure of blog readership. It aims to track the growth or decline in blog readership levels.

The Blog Readership Index won’t have a maximum value. As long as your readership rises, your index will continually rise without limits.

The Horrible 8 McDo Experience

originally posted at –> McDo
8McDo logoYesterday, we, the graduating batch, had our graduation practices at school. Since the canteen servicing the school had already closed, we had to order food for our lunch from fast foods.

Some of my batchmates ordered at Jollibee, but our group decided to go for KFC. We tried ordering at KFC but they notified us that they can’t make it since they didn’t have any delivery boy for the day. So we ended up ordering at McDo.

Ordering Process (McDo)

I was the one who took care of the ordering process. I called McDo’s (McDonalds) hotline in Davao, 228McDo. I did not have to wait, there was a person on the phone right away. I gave my name, the school’s complete address and other necessary info such as contact number. Then, I dictated our orders to their Customer Service Representative (CSR). The CSR rechecked our order to make sure that there was no omission, addition or duplication in the order. Everything went well and promised us to have our order within an hour after the confirmation call of the McDo servicing branch to the contact number we provided.

It was exactly 12:17pm, about a minute after our 228McDo call, when the McDo servicing branch called us up for confirmation of our order. We confirmed it right away.

The Agony

Uhm, it was about 12:45pm when some people started complaining telling me that their hunger is already killing them. I told them to wait just a bit longer cause their promised one hour was still not over. Then, the bell rang. It was already 1pm and lunch break was over. Me and Beth Rosero decided not to attend the practice yet and wait for our order. By 1:17pm, one hour after the confirmation, the food still was not delivered. We bothered to still wait a ‘lil longer, and by 1:30pm, I tried following-up the order thru 228McDo Davao hotline.

The 228McDo CSR asked for my name and contact number. She saw on their records that the order was confirmed by 12:17pm and asked for apology for the inconvenience. Then, she told me that the servicing branch gave them no feedback yet on the order. She also asked me if the servicing branch asked for time extension after the confirmation and I replied negative.

After the call, we still bothered to wait even longer. Then by 2:30pm, I tried following it up for the second time. The CSR, again, rechecked for our order status and said that there still was no feedback yet from the servicing branch. Then I asked her which branch, and she told me it was McDo in Damosa. I asked the CSR if we can have our orders canceled. She contacted the servicing branch herself thru phone and told me that our order was still on the store. I got pissed cause after more than two hours of waiting, our food was still on the store. The CSR then confirmed if I was sure about the cancellation of our orders and I confirmed it right away without the consent of my other batchmates.

Beer: Not Illegal for Minors?

San Mig LightDISCLAIMER: I am not the person who habitually drinks alcoholic substances. This is applicable to the Philippines.

The Misconception

I bet most of you knew that the sale or offer to sell to minors of all alcoholic beverages, including beer, to minors is illegal. But after doing some intensive research about the matter, I found out that most of the commercially-available beer beverages in the country are not illegal for sale to minors.

PD 1619 Says…

According to the Presidential Decree No. 1619 Section 6 signed by Former President Ferdinand E. Marcos:

The sale of, and offer to sell, to minors of liquors or beverages containing an alcoholic content of thirty per centum or above (60 proof or above) is hereby prohibited and shall be punishable by imprisonment ranging from six months and one day to four years and a fine ranging from six hundred to four thousand pesos.

Research

As far as I know, one per centum is equal to one percent alcohol volume. So comparing it to my compiled list of researched percent alcohol volume of San Miguel Products available in the country, all of them are below the set limits. Here’s my list:

Beer (reference) % Alcohol Volume
Red Horse (Extra Strong)Beer 7.00
San Miguel Pale Pilsen 5.00
San Miguel Blue Ice Beer 5.00
San Miguel Non-Alcoholic Beer 0.00
San Miguel Strong Ice Beer 5.00
San Mig Light 5.00
San Miguel Super Dry Beer 5.00

Conclusion

None exceeded 30, right? So what does that mean? Is it legal to minors? Uhm, as far as I understand it the answer is YES. :D (I’m not sure, okay) May it be a YES or a NO, just remember to drink moderately. :D
