How vain are you?

August 5, 2007

I have been found out! It has now come out that I am indeed what you would call… VAIN! And I have to admit I am.

Here are some of the things that prove exactly why.

I always check out my reflection in mirrors, windows, computer monitors, or any other shiny surfaces. I am very conscious about how I look and I constantly have this need to check whether hair strands are standing up and out, or whether I have flyaways, or to make sure that my face isn’t too white or too blushed. I also often check to see I do not have facial hair that is obviously showing.

This is Dedicated to the Short Women

August 3, 2007

This goes out to the short women. For trying to keep with the long-legged walks. For putting up with the annoyances of the third, fourth, or fifth wheel labeling in group outings. For the little sister who never forgot that she teases his brothers taller friends, always having the good humor in smiling even upon overhearing that they are annoyed to death by her tag-along shortness.

The Johnny Depp Fashion

August 1, 2007

I am not a fashion guru. Not at all. But I do know that Johnny Depp, despite whatever he puts on, simply can make it work. Oh yeah. It’s like he’s got his own sense of fashion. Sabi nga, “Kering-keri.” Tongue

The Most Beautiful Day On Earth

July 21, 2007

This is something I wrote for that opinion paper required from us by our History II prof about current social changes. Supposedly the immediate thing that would come into our minds would be that of issues regarding the homosexuals and their kind, but I knew that most of my classmates would be using that already.

Just when I thought that I’d be having a hard time coming up with a more different topic to write about, I suddenly thought of a time before the UP College of Nursing Tea Party when someone told me to imitate Riyo Mori’s gown during the Ms. Universe if I were to cosplay Tomoyo as how she appeared in Tusbasa Chronicles.

But a lightbulb appeared on top of my head, my neurons started firing, and the rest is history.

Lisbon, Portugal, July 7, 2007 - The world saw the results of the global election that elevated the status of 7 man-made monumental sites as the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Gretchen Barreto, Ruffa Gutierrez, and Paris Hilton

June 15, 2007

… what do these women celebrities have in common?

Gretchen Barreto and Jon Estrada scandal. A few days ago, pictures of Greta and Jon in what appears to be a display of intimacy, were circulated to the masses via the internet. Sisters, close friends, showbiz acquaintances have all been supportive and did everything they can short of admitting they were the ones who maliciously distributed the pictures. And here comes Jon, apologetic, taking in the responsibility, shouldering the burden and all the fault. Gretchen? She’s the victim here or so she has acted like it. But looking at the pictures - the “victim” is too comfy for the role. I wonder why everyone turned overprotective of her? For fear of Tonyboy’s talons? I can imagine Gretchen’s knees shake the minute she saw what happened to the pictures.

Pond’s Age Miracle commercial

June 11, 2007

This is a follow up to my last Pond’s Age Miracle post. That post has become number one in Google in the search for Pond’s Age Miracle. It seems there are a lot of women enticed to buy this product because as the commercials say - it only takes 7 days for a miracle to happen (duhh!). I have discovered several other more commercials throughout the world, in different languages that do not do a good job of portraying beauty. Although the ads are varying, they all have one message in common - use the product and you will become a beauty, goddess, sex object, success. I really hate these ads.

Miss Japan’s Evening Gown

Miss Japan’s evening gown at the recently concluded Miss Universe 2007 competition noticeably looked very different from everyone else’s. She wore a gown which many people have seen before. Curious where she got the gown?

Imelda in Divisoria?

May 19, 2007

In the not-so-distant past, it was rumored that whenever this icon wanted to shop, they would have the entire mall closed to the general public so she could shop. To this day, I still wonder if those rumors are true and if she still does her own shopping.

My friends and I got the surprise of our lives as we went to Divisoria to do some shopping. I never expected to see someone of her stature and opulence to shop in a place like Divi! Not only that, she was dressed up like she always does whenever she’s in public - her signature butterfly-sleeved (?) Filipiniana gown, matching shoes, and big hair! I couldn’t believe we had a run-on with no less than … Continue Reading

Commercial Break: Palmolive Soap, I Can Feel It…Sha!

May 17, 2007

Oh. My. God. Look what I have found!

This is the in/famous Palmolive Soap advertisement that shot Alice Dixson into 1980’s Superstardom. Who among us gays could forget her “I can feel it” action sequence? Roll one shoulder twice and look back with your mouth in a wide smile.

The Farthingale… bow

May 12, 2007

A lot of people say that they like my hair short. I don’t know why I disagree with them, but I think I may agree with them a little bit. Sometimes as I look in the mirror and see myself, I can’t stop thinking about Gorge Clooney. I think we have the same hair.

The good thing is that were living in the minimalist trend or (Read)

Ponds 7-day age miracle product

March 22, 2007

So what is wrong with this picture?

The first time I watched the commercial by Pond’s, my eyes were pulled to watch as my mind quickly registered the words “miracle” while watching a husband suddenly pay special attention to his girlfriend or wife who were apparently using this age-miracle product. Then I heard the warning bells…. Ringggging in my head. Halt!
