Open Comments Workgroup - Now Online
June 9, 2008
If you are a blogger, a website owner, or a commenter, you may have notice how comments are fragmented since Web 1.0 and how it gets even more fragmented today - Web 2.0. Discussions about defragmenting Comments sparked up in the Comments space and the Blogosphere these past few months, especially with the growing popularity of services like Disqus, Intense Debate, and well the two most pointed-out fragmenter today - Shyftr and FriendFeed (to which I’ve said, it has been like that since Web 1.0).

PANGASINAN STATE UNIVERSITY: Cheating Frenzy
January 31, 2008
“In a world of cheats, cheating gets
promoted as a “force of nature.”
“Everybody seems guilty of being
specious, spurious, and unctuous. The
truth is not here, but out there.”
Take the world of elections: Candidate
A loses, and, as though by instinct,
he blames candidate B for it, accusing
him of either ‘dagdag bawas’ (vote
padding) or ‘kaskas bawas’ (vote
shaving). But Candidate B glowers
because he has been preempted!
But in a case where all is crystal and
you could see the trails of what they
did of what really happend. The
obviousness of the crime?

Interview guide for you
November 11, 2007
Glad to be back again though I was really frustrated last night about how things went from my end when I was fixing some bugs. Bugs were found at the community forum. Anyhow, I already fixed it last night and its now fully functional for everyone’s use.
Just yesterday I finished my interview guide. I was supposed to upload the guide last night after I fixed everything but my eyes and body started to betray me thus, things went undesirable I was not able to save the stuffs. Now, I’m back again trying to retrieve what my uncreative mind produced last night.
So what is this interview guide that I have created? Actually, this is a carefully crafted guide patterned with those indicators of future performances. This may not be a desired model for interviewing but still its worth the look and asking. Questions here are highly structured and answers corresponds to certain individual attribution to one’s capacity. Read more here..

Chiswisang Baklush en Leksh Edades de Impormasyones:
Ang Gay Lingo sa Panahon ng Impormasyon
ni Miko D. Santos
Panimula
A Young Doubter’s Simple Theological Perspective Examined Philosophically

A Young Doubter’s Simple Theological Perspective Examined Philosophically
Now, I am expectantly staring at this blank paper, as if wishing my pen would act on its own to do the job for me; however, the paper just stares back at me blankly. This time, I will meditate through exercising my thinking, doubting, and analyzing skills up to their limitations. I will exert full efforts in attempting Rene Descartes1’ concept of doubting and philosophizing, and then I’ll endeavor to resolve the doubts and questions that had arisen. I will try to doubt every prejudice and preconceived belief I have in mind, leaving no trace of bias and impartiality behind. Honestly, a beginning “doubter”, I found most if not all of the Philo 10 readings quite confusing and to which I am totally unfamiliar to.
I grew up always being told and reminded by my elders of what is good and what is otherwise, of what act is right in God’s eyes and what is not. Since childhood, I have been attending worship services religiously that I could even count my absences in my fingers. One was when I was diagnosed of having an acute tonsillitis-pharyngitis, one when my grandfather died, one when Mama passed away, one when my youngest a-week-old sibling died, and the rest I have forgotten, an early sign of Alzheimer’s, as noticed by my Philo 10 professor. When I came to high school, I studied at a ministerial academy exclusive to our religion. Although the usual secondary education subjects are also taught to us, there are additional subjects like the ministerial lessons and a foreign language elective (which will be useful to us if we continue to college if ever we would be destined abroad after). However, I ended up here in UP. But I don’t have any feeling of regret, though I wonder if I feel the same way upon taking up Philo 10. Yet there’s no doubt that this subject helped broaden my critical thinking skills and stimulated my mind to be “freer” than ever before.

10 Tips on How To Start Your Own Blog Contest
August 5, 2007
Contests are cool and netizens are eager to join them.
Top bloggers like John Chow practically broke barriers with it (with his “evil” blog contests) and raised to the top of the Technorati charts (creating some issues with Google and adsense though).
That aside, there’s just something irresistible with FREE stuff on the Internet. Starting an online blog contest with the right attitude (and steps) will mean rewards for your blog.

THE RIGHT TO BLOG
July 14, 2007
Modern technology opened the doors for photographers, artists and bloggers alike to publish and display their works in a wider perspective with far raging coverage in the world wide net. One can easily publish his work and enhance its presentation through the use of graphic software or designs readily available in the net and display the same in blogger’s sites such as Blogspot, Pinoyblogosphere and other sites. Knowledge in Adobe Photoshop coupled with creative writing skills can easily surpass a newspaper or television presentation with far ranging effect. In fact, it can stay in the net for unlimited period with its own domain, which can be viewed repeatedly all over the world. However, others are hesitant to publish their work because they treasure their creativity and ideas, which might only be copied by others. Or, it may pry upon other’s privacy and they are afraid of getting into trouble. Don’t be.
Ownership over your writings, photographs or artistic works are protected by the Intellectual Property Law. Insofar as the subject or person in your picture, however, is concerned: so long as they are public figure or has acquiesced to be taken picture of, you have every right to publish it in the exercise of your freedom of expression. The definition of ‘public figure’ covers a wide latitude of persons.
Pinoy SiCKO
July 12, 2007
If you can find time, please do watch the latest documentary of Michael Moore titled SiCKO. Some of you watched his 911 Fahrenheit and somehow felt that Moore has a political agenda against the republicans, but this time it’s not polarizing. Healthcare issues transcends political parties. If you don’t have health insurance in the US, you’re a dead man walking. Even 911 heroes find it hard to avail of the health services the US government should provide. Some 911 volunteers, who suffered from respiratory diseases after the incident, were denied because they are not on the governments payroll. A $120 inhaler in US costs only 5 cents in Cuba. That is very insulting for a 911 female volunteer who lost her fortune buying these costly medicine only to find out that it is sold in Cuba at a very low price. The movie depicted how better socialized healthcare is as shown by Moore’s travel to France, UK, Canada and Cuba. We were lead to believe that US takes care of its people more than those countries mentioned.
PBS Logo
July 4, 2007
I saw the to-do-list of PBS and found out,
that we/you don’t have a logo yet ..
Why is it so?
I mean, there are designers here right?
Why not do a conference just like what we did last night,
regarding the Wika2007 ..
Just a suggestion though ..
Hope I’m not misinterpreted here .. ![]()
BlogInterview?
June 23, 2007
Have you been interviewed about your blog? I’ve just stumbled upon a site that does it. It is being maintained by Mike together with his friends. According to Mike, the site just started a few days ago and it seems to be doing well so far. I’m sure in the next few days, weeks & months it would become one of the most popular sites in the blogosphere.
The first thing that came into my mind when I saw Mike’s site is our BlogYaNiHaN at PBS. I asked myself what if we transform BlogYaNiHaN into something similar to this? What if we adapt the format and implement an interview process just like what Mike is doing? I’m aware that we should not completely copy Mike’s site but rather just base our future ideas from it. His site’s concept is really promising and worth implementing at the PinoyBlogoSphere.
I’ve had a short chat with Mike and have mentioned to him that I’m planning to put up something similar to his site but would cater only a subset of his audience. I told him that mine would just be for a local blogosphere only, the PinoyBlogoSphere. He told me that he won’t mind co’z it’s a free world wherein we can do anything we want. He just reminded me that I should’nt completely copy his entire site but instead inject other ideas into it as well. I assured him that I understand what he said and also told him that in case the plan pushes thru, I would acknowledge and give credit to him (and his site) for inspiring us in coming up with the concept for the new BlogYaNiHaN.
Genius!
June 12, 2007
To all couch potatoes everywhere, you will no longer feel obligated to finish those bag of chips. Whether you think that’s a good or a bad things is directly related to your Body Mass Index.
Anyway, everyone has been in this situation: You’ve got a huge bag of chips and your full. Now, unless you have some kind of chip clip, you’re in trouble. Leave that bag like that and it will go stale. If you really want to save those chips, you’re gonna have to go MacGyver on its ass and get some duct tape. Well, that was before - this is now:
Kalayaan2007 @ PBS
June 11, 2007
Mgandang umaga!
Bukas na ang 2007 Phil. Independence Day. Good Question!
Ind. day? Naks naman parang Halalan2007 coverage eh noh.
Asa… *LOL. What if magpa-contest tayo sa PBS Group Blog? Siguro kami ni B eh pwede mag-pa-host sa Dreamhost account namin for a year
