Valentine Clichés

February 17, 2009

I never got any flowers this Valentine’s day. And I couldn’t be any more relieved!

It’s not that I don’t like flowers, I do. I love long-stemmed roses. They could come in bunches or in solo, it doesn’t matter. I’d still swoon. After all, I’m a normal, true-blooded female.

But give me those roses on Valentine’s Day and I’d surely go “This is so predictable, but thank you.”

The Battle Against Chicken Barbecue

February 17, 2009

Last week, JJ’s bum was transformed into a water dispenser.  Solid food goes into his tummy and comes out as H20.  Simply put, he had diarrhea.  What’s not simple about it was the fact that doctors were not able to pinpoint the exact cause of it–whether it was bacterial or viral.  So, they strapped him down with the usual thingamajigs that hospitals hook up to their patients.  A straightjacket was one.

What You Ought to Know About Cebu’s Pizzas

February 17, 2009

Not so long ago, the only pizza restaurants here in Cebu are the familiar and somewhat expensive international brands like Pizza Hut &  Shakeys, and of course the unforgettable Mom’s Pizza (or Yummy’s).

But now there are a lot of pizza places in Cebu that have found their own niche by offering something different yet attractive to the discriminating taste of the Cebuanos.

It is like one big pizza revolution out here in Cebu but I am not complaining because now we get to enjoy good quality and innovative pizzas within our budget.

In the coming weeks, DiningCebu.com will review some of the fast-growing and much raved about pizza restaurants here in Cebu.  From the famous Alberto’s and their very affordable pizzas, the gigantic 30″ pizzas from Calda Pizza, and other pizza places like Handuraw, Da Vinci’s, Amicos, Jersey’s, JCA, and much much more.

So far the Pakalistas of DiningCebu.com have reviewed the following:

Da Vinci’s Pizza
Alberto’s Pizza
Handuraw Pizza

Click on the individual links above to read our review and do keep visiting DiningCebu.com for more pizza updates.  Enjoy!

Goodbye Multitasking!

January 29, 2009

We all know that getting things done requires a lot of energy and maybe, planning. For the last several years, I have been experimenting on this Time Management principle that I have learned. Its is called “Time Blocks”.

Instead of multitasking, you set aside blocks or periods of time to focus on an individual type of tasks or activity.

You do things with the same thought process, direction and resources instead of doing many different things at the same time.

Instead of doing things this way. [Read More]

Find a Smart Piggy Bank

January 28, 2009

Less than 10 years ago, I just turned 20 then, I needed an additional capital to expand my business.

And so my father, who was mentoring me, decided to help me get a loan. He knew the owners of Asia United Bank, a newly opened bank at the time. He introduced me to the VP of the company and scheduled an appointment with him.

So I met with him. He asked me about my business. How it was doing? What are my marketing plans? How do I handle this and that? I was a 20 year-old young zealous entrepreneur back then and so I gave him my pitch! [Read more]

Pizza Restaurant in Cebu - Alberto's Super D Luxe Pizza Philippines Food Cebu

A lot of my friends have been telling me about Alberto’s Pizza.

Pakalista Jon was raving mad about Alberto’s Garden Special Pizza for its very affordable (9″ Php 72.00) yet decent tasting pizza.

Hungry after a night out, it was about time to pay Alberto a visit and try their pizzas.  Read DiningCebu.com’s review of Alberto’s Pizza here: Breaking the Dawn with Alberto’s Pizza

Music Shop

January 1, 2009

We all know that downloading of mp3’s online is illegal, unless you purchased it from allowed distributors. Fortunately, you stumbled upon this post where I’m featuring an online music store, I present to you –

The site has a user-friendly interface so that visitors-cum-customers, such as yourself, will not have a hard time looking and downloading for their favorite songs.

This site actually have several departments, but their music department called musicShop is the one that I love the most. Why? In the musicSHOP, you can listen to the newest music releases in the market without leaving your home via their stylish musicSHOP Player: Here’s a screenshot of their player:
After listening your favorite song there, you can download it at a particular online store’s rates.

What’s good with musicSHOP is that it aggregates online music shopping stores in their site. The benefit of it? You can compare music or song prices of different online stores, and it’s up to you to purchase the one that your wallet can afford — in case you’re on a tight budget.

In addition, the site has a user-friendly interface so that visitors-cum-customers, such as yourself, will not have a hard time looking and downloading for their favorite songs.

Come back often to the site, because they always update their tunes and gives away cool prizes and signed memorabilia to its loyal customers!!

Now, don’t waste your money on other online stores who has expensive music download prices! Be updated on the latest songs rocking the airwaves!

So what are you waiting for?

DiningCebu.com features Korean Restaurant in Cebu: Yu Hee Jeong

December 25, 2008

korean food in cebu

Pakalista Shel decided to try Korean food years ago because of her interest in Korean telenovelas. She’s one of the Lovers in Paris fans who wanted to have a taste of the rice cakes Vivian prepared for Carlo, which didn’t look like any other rice cakes because it has a sauce.

Yu Hee Jeong Korean restaurant in Cebu Philippines has been serving Korean food since late 90s, way before we even heard of Lovers in Paris. And compared to other Korean restaurants in Cebu, particularly those in Lapu-Lapu, Yu Hee Jeong food is cheap.

Away from the Hustle and Bustle at Metro Cafe

December 7, 2008

Imagine this. Friday Night, Gimik night.

You’ve prepared yourself for dinner at the newly opened Cebu restaurants in The Terraces Ayala. Suddenly things don’t go as planned, except for the part where your friends are fashionably late as usual.

People are hustling and bustling towards The Terraces Ayala but you find yourself in a cafe below the mall’s supermarket.

Depressing right?!

I don’t know how this night would develop because I was already in a bad mood. I’m sure you’d feel the same way.

So let’s see how somebody’s tantrums and my sarcastic recommendation for a restaurant would turn out.

Philippine Juicy Fruits

August 17, 2008

Fresh from his stint in Harvard, United States, where he was granted scholarship in Publc Finance Administration, Usec. Robert T. Rivera went straight to the set of his show: Pilipinas Ngayon Na! Barely days after he arrived in the country, Usec. Rivera hosted the launching of the Philippine Juicy Fruits of Bella Dimayuga. Bella Dimayuga, the very nationalistic President of Bellestar Promotions who conceptualized the idea that her talents be named after Philippine Fruits to promote our country abroad, with his husband Ed, took charge of the affair. The event was splendid! The crowds were so energetic! The voice of “Marvic” a.k.a. “Makopa”, as she dances with the Bellstar Dancers, was so powerful! Usec. Rivera at the set, was amazed. We taped the event from our own cameras we brought in with us and uploaded Marvic’s performance. It was really splendid! Amazing! Amusing! Watch it for yourself to witness:YouTube Preview Image

Sun Cellular Secret Tip

August 7, 2008

I have been using Sun Cellular prepaid simcard ever since it was available in the market. It’s very useful for people who keep in touch regularly such as BF-GF, family, friends etc. because it has cheap call and text rates for Sun to Sun subscribers. Last year, my sister shared to me that you could convert a regular load into a Call (4 hours) & Text Unlimited. The benefit of doing this versus buying a 150 call & text unlimited load is that you can avail 25 FREE text to other networks and it lasts for 30 days. Smart eh? I have been doing this ever since I discovered it.
