Kerygma Conference Live

We just came from Philsports Arena (formerly ULTRA) where we attended the very first Kerygma Conference conducted by the Light of Jesus Family of Bo Sanchez. In the few hours that we were there, we were inspired by the sharings of Fr. Orbos who celebrated the opening mass, the performance of very powerful performers like Nolyn Cabahug and Dulce, and the Bo’s talk on his 7 beliefs. Read more at Pinoy Seminars.

Hear Skepticism in Podcast

skepticality.jpg

Last June, I know I blogged about Skeptic.com, the Skeptics Society website containing educational articles and ideas regarding controversial issues, revolutionary ideas, extraordinary claims and simple promotion of science. I’ve always been a fan of the site that’s why I always go back for more and more readings.

And though their official podcast, Skepticality, has already been around since 2005, I’ve only recently became hooked on it. Also, it helped that I have a phone that can play mp3 files, so that I can listen to the podcasts even when I’m away from the computer.

Hosts of the show are Derek Colanduno and Swoopy. I find them both funny without having to try too hard to bring life to the show. Well, actually, they don’t have to try too much because of the lineup of the guests in their show can really make you listen: Sam Harris (author of The End of Faith: Religion, Terror, and Future of Reason and Letter to a Christian Nation), Philip Zimbardo (author of the book, The Lucifer Effect: Understanding How Good People Turn Evil, a book in which he tells findings from an experiment done in ’70s, the Stanford Prison Experiment, which is one of the most important experiments done in the history of social sciences and one that cannot be repeated today because of the horrific results), and, of course, Michael Shermer (director of Skeptic Society and author of the book Why Darwin Matters: The Case Against Intelligent Design).

My favorite’s got to be the May 29th episode, a Visit To The Trenches of Nontheism: Continue reading ‘Hear Skepticism in Podcast’

Apparently, The Top Ten Emerging Influential Blogs of 2007 writing project is still making quite a buzz and waves of stories across our very own Pinoy Blogosphere Blogging Community – but for very different reasons and from very different perspectives.
Oh well, let’s all take a break from that guys. Chill. And remember the good times that was August 1, 2007. Come on, just spare this ten minutes. For peace. Yeah right. Haha.

Emerging. Influential.

Joining Ms. Janette Toral’s writing project, The Top Ten Emerging Influential Blogs in 2007, made me think what these words really mean. Which blogs could these be? I tried to build a somehow complex criteria but it just made my head hurt. Blog hopping for hours trying to find a site which fits “influential” perfectly zaps the energy out of me, let alone add more criteria names to my “to-Google” list.

So, to make life simpler, I’ve nominated blogs which have influenced and inspired me in some way, and have sketched new ideas to my skull.

Now watch my video entry and tell me what you think.

Huling Hirit

Man, I’ve got the worst hangover.

Of summer, that is. Since classes started this June, can’t seem to fully adjust to the new schedule I have to put up with. Maybe I miss the super hot days when I have no reason to leave the house or even get out of bed, the events we have to organize, or staring at the computer ’til dawn. It’s hard to focus on academics when Wifi can reach you almost everywhere and blog hopping could be as easy as a sit in the park. I need to let go.

So now, on the turn of a new month, I will firmly stand by my decision to leave behind (temporarily) some “luxuries” I had back then. Looking back, it’s been fun but I just have to think– Dude, you’re graduating dammit! — and that should shake me up and put my priorities in place.

Ten Things to Do When Stuck in Traffic

trafficjam.jpgWe had so much fun making the first episode of “The K Zone,” we just have to follow it up with another. I’m kinda amazed at how much we have loosened up in this second episode. Maybe it’s the topic. Or maybe we’re really getting the hang of it. You be the judge.

Show notes: We discuss some fun and crazy ways to do when stuck in traffic. Think of the loooooong hours on EDSA, or Quezon Avenue, or…wherever.
