Pinoy Dream Academy Season II
April 9, 2008
I’m really a fan of Pinoy Dream Academy to the point that I bought jackets, notebooks and even pin buttons. I’m a Rosita Bareng fan actually. Oh, please don’t laugh at me like that. She many not be the best singer in town but she never fail to catch the “masa” audience of the show. I like the Pinoy Dream Academy’s format wherein scholars are asked to live inside an “academy” where will they undergo rigid training. Moreover, since they live inside an academy equipped with many cameras and microphones you get to know the attitudes of the contestants and how they interact with each other …

It would be imprudent to equate intelligence with broken English. Nowadays, people seem to think highly of themselves whenever they could speak straight English when in fact, these so-called PINOYS cannot even speak straight Tagalog and worse, they prefer to speak TAG-LISH instead. Most of the pa-sosyal people and kids do that most of the time and that’s more irritating. Have these people not been taught at school that you speak one language at a time if you want clarity and cohesion? If you want to speak in English, then speak in straight English and vice versa with Tagalog. You do not add and mix these two languages to make it seem like your cool and hip and smart. It makes you look cheap and maarte, actually. But of course, not all good English-speaking Pinoys are like that and it would be stupid of me to make such a generalization.
To be honest, to be able to speak in English is essential because as we seek to move towards globalization, this language will help us gain the upper hand in getting a job or a career basically. I think it would be safe to equate good education or sufficient education with good English skills instead. Because not all well-educated, good English speaking people are intelligent, right? Some receive good education because they can afford it. But intelligence is rarely developed as it is mostly based in your genes. So some who receive good education and speak perfect English may not necessarily have the brains to think beyond speaking perfect English. Some.

Don’t Judge her. She’s not a book.

Honestly, I was really irritated when I saw it on live television. Bb. Pilipinas Candidate Janina San Miguel making a whole fool out of herself damaging her school’s pride, by having the most horrifying answer to one of the simplest questions.
It’s not the English, I can take that.
It’s how she treated the question. She’s a Broadcast Communication student from the University of the East. I was more shocked when I heard that. The most insulting and unprofessional thing she did was she reasoned out that she’s seventeen and it was her first time in the Binibining Pilipinas.
Totally unprofessional.
I guess this is another test to our fellow noypi people out there… Which is it: Support of Sipot?!
Let’s just wish that she doesn’t do that in Miss World 2008 at Kiev, Ukraine.
Get Your Message Across Clearly, Whether You’re a Blogger or a Beauty Queen
March 12, 2008
For many of us, communicating in English is not just an option but a requirement. Is it because more people can understand us when we speak that way? Or is it because we appear to be more intelligent and more successful?
Whether you’re writing a blog post or answering a question in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant, it is more important that what you say makes sense. Continue reading the whole post…

Cecilia Cheung Scandal
February 26, 2008
Just when you thought everyone was innocent, a sex scandal would pop from nowhere. It’s unfortunate that one of the victim on this latest sex scandal is my longtime crush, Cecilia Cheung. Apparently, these scandalous photos were taken by Edison Chen in 2005, stored on a laptop, and “stolen” by the people who repaired the laptop.

The Return of Filipino Animation
February 20, 2008
It’s been years since we last saw a full-length Filipino animation and that time we all reacted that it is not at par yet with American Cartoons, Japanese Anime, and the general Animation industry in the world. BUT, if we kept an open-mind back then, Filipino Animation releases (full-length or otherwise) becomes better and better for every release.
And you know what? This year we will be able to see the (as gamers say it) “bestest” of Filipino Animation has to offer. Want to see the trailers?

“The Battle of Angels:” Pinoy Version
January 25, 2008
Here’s how I see the plot: Anne plays rich girl-turned-noveau poor who is forced to take up a job in an airline to support her family. Diether plays young pilot, and is new to the airline. First day on the job, Diether meets Jordan, his co-pilot. Jodi plays flirtatious flight attendant, fianceé of Diether. Diether falls in love with Anne at first sight. Diether, is engaged to Jodi, so animosity builds up between Anne and Jodi. Enter Ruffa: chief flight attendant, sugar-mommy to Jordan, but has the hots for Diether. Ruffa is willing to dump Jordan for Diether, and Jordan grows suspicious. However, Jordan also has feelings for Anne.
Wendy plays squatter girl near the airport. She is the live-in partner of Bruce, who plays a blue-collar worker. Wendy dreams of being a flight attendant, but Bruce - ever the patriarchal archetypal lalake - would have none of it. While selling halo-halo near the airport, Wendy meets Jordan, and concocts a plan to seduce Jordan for her to be a flight attendant.
Oh yeah, I smell ratings. ABS-CBN producers: here’s your new soap opera.
