“The Battle of Angels:” Pinoy Version
January 25, 2008
Here’s how I see the plot: Anne plays rich girl-turned-noveau poor who is forced to take up a job in an airline to support her family. Diether plays young pilot, and is new to the airline. First day on the job, Diether meets Jordan, his co-pilot. Jodi plays flirtatious flight attendant, fianceé of Diether. Diether falls in love with Anne at first sight. Diether, is engaged to Jodi, so animosity builds up between Anne and Jodi. Enter Ruffa: chief flight attendant, sugar-mommy to Jordan, but has the hots for Diether. Ruffa is willing to dump Jordan for Diether, and Jordan grows suspicious. However, Jordan also has feelings for Anne.
Wendy plays squatter girl near the airport. She is the live-in partner of Bruce, who plays a blue-collar worker. Wendy dreams of being a flight attendant, but Bruce - ever the patriarchal archetypal lalake - would have none of it. While selling halo-halo near the airport, Wendy meets Jordan, and concocts a plan to seduce Jordan for her to be a flight attendant.
Oh yeah, I smell ratings. ABS-CBN producers: here’s your new soap opera.

Kris Martinez Admits He’s Open to Gay Relationships
November 26, 2007
Budding Filipino Actor Kris Martinez admitted in an interview with PEP that he is open to having a relationship with the same sex. Kris started his career in show business when he became the first runner-up in Close Up to Fame in 2005. He also starred in Twilight Dancers, a film about macho dancers, in 2006. His biggest project so far, we assume, would be this movie with Cristine Reyes and Andrew Schwimmer, Green Paradise, set for release anytime soon.
In a recent interview, this hot actor revealed that he is not closing his doors on gay relationships. It has been rumored that he has a gay sponsor in the US, who sends him money on a regular basis. He denied this but said that there is a gay man from the US who sends him stuff but not money. When asked if it is possible or impossible for someone like him to be involved in a relationship with a gay man, he replied:
10 Questions I (Really) Want Answered

10 Questions I (Really) Want Answered
10. Why do Pinoys think sex when they hear the sax opening on (Wham) George Michael’s Careless Whisper? Admit it, a steamy bed scene ensues in your head whenever you hear this song. Nevermind that this song isn’t really about sex but almost everyone I know would either blush or say “It’s sexy time!†almost instantly. Because the sax opens the song, people tend to forget about the lyrics and concentrate more on it’s perceived sensuality.
9. Why do we love cooking shows? I love Iron Chef to bits, especially the Japanese version because their chairman is much more energetic and anime-ish. Food is no doubt a basic necessity so it’s no wonder we even bother to watch or buy cooking stuff. But my fascination with cooking shows is beyond their entertainment and ‘necessity’ value: I love it primarily because it’s about food (duh) and it allows me to see myself as a chef. Not that I’ve always wanted to be one but it’s more of a woman thing; that perception of being a good wife entails being good in the kitchen. The perception is a bit out dated but as I come from a traditional Pinoy family, this holds true for me. I know how to cook but only the basic stuff (frying, adobo, chopsuey and nilagang whatever) and I would love to enroll in short baking and cooking courses in the future…if my schedule permits.
Coke Classic Philippine TV Ad 1979 ( with Tito, Vic & Joey )
November 18, 2007
I don’t know if some of you were already born during 1970’s era; but it’s always nice to look back on the good old days when air in Manila is not that polluted and life during those days was so simple. Remember the bell bottom pants and the pointed collar shirts???? lol
After you watch this Coke TV commercial of Tito, Vic and Joey you will definitely remember the past.

EXCLUSIVE : JDV napangiti while escaping DEATH?
November 14, 2007
I know this story is out of my desired topic but I really can’t help myself. I am just reacting as to how this JDV reacts in front of the media while he was being interviewed last night about the bombing that rocked the Congress.
“Napangiti lang na good thing daw nauna syang umalis tapos after the explosion balik na naman daw sya.” I can’t imagine a normal guy smiling while 1 is dead and 12 were hurt as reported last night.
Victor Basa is Safe!
November 6, 2007
Gaby dela Merced has decided to make a voluntary exit on Saturday to pursue her dreams of becoming an international racecar driver. She was asked by Big Brother to choose between staying in the house or attending her seminar (Driver Development Program for International Racing) in the United States next week.
Even though it was a very difficult decision to make, she opted to leave the Big Brother House to attend her seminar. We feel a little bit sad because she is one of the few women (alongside Yayo Aguila and Ethel Booba) we are rooting for to become the Big Winner in this season.
Save Victor Basa!

Fresh, young and yummy hunk Victor Basa is nominated for eviction this week on Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2. Mga lecheng bilat ni-nominate itong ating yummy yummy screw me boy! (those f*ckin bitches who nominated our yummy yummy screw me boy!).
Along with brothers Baron and Donald Geisler (the two-in-1 housemates), and Formula Racing Goddess Gaby dela Merced, and Ultimate Pasaway Ethel Booba (jowaers of hot hot Janvier Daly!), our little boy Victor will at the mercy of the general viewing (and non-viewing) public.

Ang Gay Lingo sa Panahon ng Impormasyon
ni Miko D. Santos
Panimula
Pacquiao, Save Us
October 5, 2007
October 6, 2007 is another day for Pacquiao fans to debate and possibly celebrate if the Pambansang Kamao will win over Marco Antonio Barerra. Of course, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, will stop, take a break and turn their t.v. sets on just to see Manny fight. Fact is, I’m not a fan, but of course, as the nation’s pride in the realm of boxing, I cannot help but be awed in him as well.
In recent years, boxing has had a firm hold on us Pinoys that even choosing who will sing our national anthem for boxing fights has become such a troublesome affair. Hopefully, Kyla will not screw this one like what Christian Bautista did on the Penalosa fight just a month ago. I mean, missing out several important lines from the Lupang Hinirang is such a terrible, terrible mistake. And I have to say, I pity Christian Bautista for his tarnished rep.

Invectives against Desperate Houswives?
October 4, 2007
There’s been a lot of developments in national politics this week which I have not been able to monitor anymore and which I will try to follow by the time the semester ends. In the meantime, we have the International Bloggers’ Day for Burma tomorrow. (Check it out, check it out!)
But what’s more interesting for most people is this: the TV series Desperate Housewives has been getting the ire of some Pinoys. Frankly though, I don’t think there is enough reason for a collective and frantic supplication of invectives against the show. My sentiment echoes that of the Sassy Lawyer:
Desperate Housewives’ Rather Insulting Remark about Medical Schools in the Philippines
October 2, 2007
I got an email from Rob Klaproth this morning that points to a scene in a recent episode of well-known TV show Desperate Housewives, which he and his Filipino boyfriend found offensive and racist.
In this particular scene, Susan Mayer Delfino, played by actress Teri Hatcher, is talking with her doctor, which, I presume, is her OB-Gyne. She then tells him this line which marked the spot:
Okay, before we go any further, can I check those diplomas? Coz I would just like to make sure they are not from some med school in the Philippines.
You can listen to the 56-second MP3 of the dialogue that Rob sent me, which I uploaded on my Multiply.

The Oscar de La Hoya Scandal and Callcenter Sex Videos! WTF?
September 27, 2007
If you don’t have Cable TV (or if you live a pathetic life and you don’t have a TV at all), then most probably you haven’t heard of the Oscar de La Hoya Scandal. So yeah, 2 days after the so-called scandal, I decided to make a post about it. Not that it’s more important than my long-delayed wedding post (I just can’t seem to strike a high note with it yet), but it’s just something that I feel am responsible to share. Read more here.
Experience the ShowBiz Church
September 26, 2007
Paolo Lorenzana recently published an interesting article, Jesus Christ & Superstars – a timely revelation for Filipino churchians. Paolo named the most luminous and influential showbiz personalities who had a spotlightenment and has now become visible envoys of Victory Christian Fellowship: Kitchie Nadal, Carmi Martin, Donita Rose-Villarama, Piolo Pascual, Sam Milby, Toni Gonzaga, and Rica Peralejo who’s currently under the discipleship of actress-turned-evangelist Coney Reyes.
In that same commentary, Paolo daringly wrote his observation that “the God of Born-Again Christianity seems to have become an all-encompassing manager and publicist in the realm of showbiz, shifting past scandal into salvation and turning sexy stars and drug-dredged lotharios into disciples”. That’s an intriguing viewpoint but it’s just a confirmation of Rick Ross’s evaluation of controversial religious groups (Rick Ross is a cult intervention specialist).
Nobody’s Perfect – Even Pinoy Superstars!
September 7, 2007
Pinoywood icons, Blockbuster celebrities, professional basketball stars, and Filipino award winners are very much adored and highly respected in the Philippine society. But things are not always what they seem. The reality: Nobody’s perfect – even distinguished Pinoy superstars!
Bong Alvarez
Ex-cager Paul “Bong” Alvarez was criminally charged for allegedly mauling a taxi driver and an ABS-CBN female reporter. The Mandaluyong City Prosecutors’ Office told Bong Alvarez to pay P4,000 for bail. The deputy director for the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility added that Alvarez violated press freedom when he prevented the reporter to interview the taxi driver at the police station.
Nora Aunor
Nora Aunor, labeled as Superstar in Philippine cinema, was arrested for possession of illegal substance at the Los Angeles Airport in 2006 and was sentenced to “18 months of deferred entry of judgment,” according to a clerk of court of the Superior Court of Los Angeles in California. Nora Aunor once again shocked the Filipino community when she got married in Las Vegas but not to any of the men who came into her life—but to a woman, her talent manager Norie Sayo.
