No weekend play for Angelo Que

Sorry folks, Angelo Que did not make the cut.

He won a consolation prize though - valuable experience!

He actually started his second round at the British Golf Open quite brilliantly. A birdie at the 5th after a string of four opening pars placed him tied at the top 50 players. At this point, he was four strokes better than his start the previous day. Then lightning struck.

Angelo Que better than past champs

Filipino ace Angelo Que made a remarkable start at his maiden major tournament at the 137th British Open Golf championships last night (RP Time).

After opening with a bogey with the jitters I suppose, he evened the next two holes and found himself sharing the leaderboard at No. 8. Even for just this brief moment, he was in the Top 10!

As it was past midnight, I went to bed with a happy smile with this in my dream:

Bragging trophy for Angelo Que

Even before he tees off for the 137th British Golf Championships today, I consider Angelo Que already a winner. His trophy - the bragging rights as the first Filipino golfer to qualify for this prestigious major.

Little is known of this Filipino ace in The Open. Angelo Que was the last qualifier in the Asian leg of the international qualifying tournaments early this year. He is the leader in the ASEAN Order of Merit and has two wins in the Asian Tour, this year’s Philippine Open and the 2004 Carlsberg Masters Vietnam.

Manny Pacquiao running again

In boxing, my Guardian bro, Manny Pacquiao has moved in different weight classes to chase his dream for glory. He now has four belts, the most by any Asian, and he is also considered as the best boxer around pound-for-pound.

He was, unfortunately, KOed in his first political match in General Santos City last year. But now, he plans to make a political comeback and adopt his boxing strategy of moving. This time, moving from one place to another.

There are a lot of talks about who will be facing Manny next. Some say it will be Soto, some say it will be the knockout artist Edwin Valero, and some say it will be ‘The Hitman’ Ricky Hatton. Honestly, I prefer the knockout artist Edwin Valero for Manny to fight next. This will be an explosive fight for sure, because Manny and Valero both wants to KO their opponent.

Pacquiao vs Diaz Match Live Online!

Just less than two hours from now, another much awaited fight between two great fighters, dubbed as the “Lethal Combination“, Manny Pacquiao will battle it out with the Mexican - American David Diaz.

If Pacquiao wins this match then it will go down in the history books as he will be the first Asian to hold four world crowns in four weight division as well the first Filipino to reign in the 135-pound class.

Preliminary fights will start at 8PM EST 5PM PST (8AM PH time) and the main match should be starting after 2 hours or so. I’ll be watching it live again for FREE as usual. )

I have read a column that says that Manny Pacquiao seems to be over confident in this fight. This has been due to cutting down his training regimen by delaying his trip to the US and attending first his local commitments. If this attitude of Manny Pacquiao continues I think this will soon end his legendary career as a boxer. The number one pound-by-pound boxer according to FightFan.com should be humble and never underestimate his opponent. Too bad, the humble Manny Pacquiao was a sight of yesterday.
