Filipinos in Singapore
June 26, 2008
Monday, I was feeling homesick and I was totally bored. I have decided to email the recruitment agency to make a follow up on the status of my employment pass. Right after I emailed her, she contacted me twice to inform me that I have passed. She also told me that I could come in their office for my medical examination. I have asked on how much it will cost and she told me that it is more than 40 SGD.

Ces Drilon TV Interview
June 24, 2008
Videos courtesy of QTV’s News On Q and Balitanghali. Senator Loren Legarda probably enjoyed the attention she’s receiving because of broadcast journalist Ces Drilon’s rescue. Just in time for the 2010 Presidential elections. No need for a TV commercial. No offense though. I still think that she had a big part in the release of Ces Drilon, Jimmy Encarnacion and Mindanao State University professor Octavio Dinampo.

Happy Birthday Mom!
June 24, 2008
Yesterday was my mom’s 60th birthday. I got so worried about her when my sister sent a SMS message telling that she is ill. I called her up to greet her and to have a long chat with her. I think we chatted for about four minutes then she passed the cell phone to my father. My mom was still stuttering because of her medication. She sounded weak and helpless. I hope she gets well soon. Arghh…I still feel guilty that I left too soon. I am somewhat secured that she is being taken care of since my other sister just came home from London.

As it is.

I will be trying different things from now on. Things not including alcohol, nicotine, and partying. And spending my whole paycheck into empty things.
Like for example, useful and informative blogging. I have been trying to get into it for a long time now, I just can’t find the right timing and inspiration to actually do it. So what made me start now? Paid blogging. Fun right? Paid or not, I will still continue to blog.
For some blogging is a form of tension release, as well as mind therapy. When you have lots of things in mind, and you can’t stop fidgeting alone, you would always want to talk and say things aloud. Just for the sake of releasing it. The usual bigger problem on top of that is you don’t have anyone to talk to. No loved one to share it with, friends are all busy, or you’re a plain dead kid.. a loner.
I do that. Most of the time. Hell I do that everytime I blog. And often than not, I actually don’t care if someone reads and comments post after post. But I’m getting tired of my usual topics.. i mean topic.. myself. Boring. For most blog hoppers. Not for me. so it’s time to make a change.
From now on, I will keep my personal blogs in my multiply page, where most of my friends can annotate, and informative blogs here. Topics would vary from my passion: teaching to whatnots like grass or rain. Whatever that can be useful to any form of creature who flies around the cyber world. Music, movies, books, people, happenings. My grammar isn’t at all grand, but I learned English enough during my school years, so pardon me if I lack a little in my communication skills. I ask of you now for a little encouragement and appreciation that a small blogger like me can be an instrument to cater to whatever needs bloggers and non-bloggers have. For now, let’s just leave this blog as it is. An intoduction.
Thank you.

Love is a big word
May 28, 2008
This morning, my daily devotional prompted me to read Romans 12:9-21 for further studies. I turned my bible to the appointed section and it read:
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
A Month Without a Cellphone. Can you handle that?
May 23, 2008

Mobile phones are everywhere. They are necessity for many people. Imagine a life, without a cellphone for just a month. What about for a year? In this world evolving in the new era of technology, I think a few people can handle that.

hindi pa nagbebreakfast si iron man!

dyungk dyengk dyenen dyen
dyenen dyenen nen dyungk dyenen dyen!
-iron man by black sabbath (heavy guitar distortion)
ako si iron man!
tignan mo yung sinasabi kong berdeng iron man dito!
Miniscule Detail: It still helps

After the very much awaited wedding of Diana Princess of Whales and His Royal Highness Prince Charles, they went over to cruise for their honeymoon.
The honeymoon aboard the Britannia was horrible as Prince Charles told a friend, “That first night was special. It was special enough, of course. But she really was painfully naive.” This shows that P. Charles was not really that attached to his mother because he wants a woman to be caring, nurturing, not to mention experienced. That is all filled by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall (Camilla Parker Bowles).
Back to the cruise. Both were very different, Diana would be sociable, chattering with the cooks and the other personnel. While, Charles would would just sit like a hermit and read Laurens Van der Post’s books. This also shows that their age gap was not 12, but was 40.
At these times, the Prince cannot function well without a phone call to Camilla.
Defeated
May 1, 2008
Sigh…
This, my dearest friends, is what happens when we step into the battle-ground alone. We are not simply battered and bruised, we are also terribly defeated.
I confess, the past days I have been struggling for self-preservation (which I actually was not aware that it was until pointed out to me by Pastor Larry), I have been wallowing in self-pity in this little corner of my selfish world, sinning as I go along- cursing and killing people in my mind and in my heart, seeking and feeling thirsty for vengeance.

“Make amends with this person you have hurt first before facing the Lord God!”
These words were vehemently thrown into my face this morning by someone who tells me she is a Christian. I was taken aback by her words. They were strong, commanding and filled with hatred for me.
Yes, I have hurt people in the past and though I tried to make amends, I was brushed off with hurtful and condemning words. So I resolved to stay in my own little world and shove it all behind, I tried not to look back because each time I would do so, I was being met with expletives, accusations and belittling. I was called names, names not even a dog would dare be called.

Annie Leibovitz: The luckiest portait photograoher on earth!
April 28, 2008
When I was reviewing Good Luck Chuck (like there was something monumental to say). I stumbled upon this promotional poster with reference to the Issue 335 cover of the Rolling Stone.
Taken on the morning of December 8, 1980, this was one of the last photographs of Lennon, who was murdered by a deranged fan (hours) later in the day.
It was the best cover since 1965.
The earliest encounter with her is from a little snippet in the Time magazine about her Wizard of Oz themed shoots in a fashion editorial for Vogue US. Even if that image in the article is about 100×200 pixels, I really want to see that photo because there is some kind of glamour and beauty.
Free Software to Increase Traffic to Your Blog
April 27, 2008
Here’s a free software for you guys (download link below) who would like help boost traffic to your blogs. It practically enables you to search a keyword and the blogs that are related to that keyword you typed in. You will be able to quickly find the blogs that are “up there” in the ranks and you can start putting comments to their blogs to increase your own blog’s exposure. As illustrated below -
1. type a keyword related to your blog. i.e. “pinoy”
2. type in your domain name (this is related to point #4)
3. PR stands for “page rank”
4. if you typed your domain name in point #2, it will show if that domain name has links with the top blogs. In this case www.i-filipino.com doesn’t have any links with the top blogs
5. you can see the highest ranking blog related to the keyword “pinoy” - in this case it is “sunstar.com.ph/specials/election” (the lower the number, the higher the ranking)
RockStardom
April 24, 2008

I was seven.
Zombie by The Cranberries was the first song I ever learned to play with my kuyas’ guitar. The song’s chords were Em-C-G-F# cycles but I also learned its lead and bass parts. My sister taught me the mellow side of music and I grew up watching her play ballads from our piano. I miss the days when we play piano duets like Blue Moon or Chopsticks. I am so forever grateful for my sibs’ efforts. They have taught and inspired me well.
I was a fan of my brothers’ garage band. I can’t remember their band’s name but I sure enjoyed watching them practice at our apartment in Paranaque during weekends. Early 90’s was the glory days of the Metal and Grunge genres. Our very high tech (back then) sounds sytem almost always blare out tunes from bands like Metallica, Nirvana and Pearl Jam. We even got reported to the Baranggay by our neighbor for the noise.
using my resources
April 24, 2008
*crossing fingers*
bayan dsl is giving me a sore brain. i’m the most impatient person i know and their hintaynet service is not doing any help. it’s a sin to surf and do anything unrelated to my job during these hours but i am doing this now because it takes at least 2 minutes for each page to load and i have 8 windows with at least 3 tabs-per-window that’s currently open in my task bar right now.
(oops, they’re done now. another 8 windows to open.)
while patiently waiting for these tabs to finish loading, i’ll take this two minute break to tell you why i’m doing this: my last month’s electricity bill tripled its amount. my current bill is now PhP10,000.
(have to open the links first. and then wait for the pages to reload again)
there…
and so i have to use the free minutes on something, rather than let the kWh rise with doing nothing.
charus!
as if naman may kwenta tong sinusulat ko, nag english lang naman ako sa una. hahahaha. eh pero seriously, mother earth is slowly dying. her resources are dwindling low so i try to make the most out every minute i’m consuming her precious fossil fuels.

Patience is a virtue.
Patience is a virtue.
Patience is a virtue.
Patience is a virtue.
Patience is a virtue.

ugh ugh ugh…
Can’t you be a little more forgiving?
I can sense the irritation
and I am a little bit irate as well.
Just a teenie little bit..
I am certainly grateful for not being jobless right now.
I’ll be honest about this:
I am not fit for it
My cerebellum is getting smaller by the day

We Filipinos Always Manage to be in the Headlines in Canada
April 20, 2008
We described the side comment from the Desperate Housewives about Filipino doctors as degrading, right? Now, I could not, in my simple little mind figure out why someone would upload a confidential operation on Youtube. I am talking about that “Vicente Sotto Medical Center Scandal.” I’ve seen it. Although it was taken down from Youtube, you could still find the link where you can download it - for $1.00. Talk about enterpreneurship………. Well, i’ve downloaded it for free…
I came across it last week but I just shook my head. I didn’t dwell on it. But today while reading news from the CBC website (Canadian Broadcasting Centre), the VSMCC Scandal was one of the headlines. Of course it doesn’t say VMSCC scandal but “Doctors face dismissal after surgery posted on Youtube.” Here’s the link, read it for yourself - Doctors face dismissal after surgery posted on Youtube . At the bottom of that article, you can see different reactions from Canadians.
“ All Rice “
April 20, 2008
(This is a write-up from my guest blogger, Eygee who currently lives in the Philippines. I live in Canada now and have trained myself not to eat rice everyday lol!
It’s hard to believe that there is a shortage of rice in the Philippines. It’s sad. - Ate G.)
Before anyone reacts, yes ,you read it right it’s not a typo..my topic is about rice…all about rice….the most important food product… a major staple food in the Philippines…a part in every Filipino’s grocery list….”the Rice”.
By this time, it’s already in the news, the soaring rice price hits the Philippines…the shortage of rice supply…the hoarding of supply…the long lines for rice subsidy….the announcement from the government that Filipinos should now eat and cook only half of the rice that they’re used to eat…people panicking for their supply of their beloved rice…but how can that be?
Last part of a series: A doubtful heart
April 17, 2008
So, I did not snap my head out of my neck because it isn’t really the wisest thing to do given the circumstances, but there was huge relief and, of course, guilt.
I felt relieved because it felt good to finally see that I wasn’t actually facing a blank wall after all. You know, there really is a huge difference between being blind when you aren’t really blind and being truly blind and finally being able to see. In my case, I was the former.
