FAQs

  • How do I Send Email to the List Moderators?

If you have questions, comments or suggestions

that you wish to send to the list moderators, but

not to the entire list, you can send email to: pinoyblogosphere-owner@yahoogroups.com

  • How do I Change Message Delivery Options?

If, at anytime, you wish to change your message

delivery mode for this list here are the options to

choose from. Even if you don’t have a Yahoo! ID,

you can make changes by sending a blank e-mail

message to the following addresses:

To Receive Individual Posts:

pinoyblogosphere-normal@yahoogroups.com

To Receive Digest Only:

pinoyblogosphere-digest@yahoogroups.com

To Receive No Mail/Web Only:

pinoyblogosphere-nomail@yahoogroups.com

To Unsubscribe:

pinoyblogosphere-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

  • What is “Digest Mode”?

Digest mode means that instead of receiving one

email message for each post to the list, Yahoo will

compile as many as 25 messages into a single

“digest” which you will receive as a single email

message each day.

The advantages of “digest mode” are:

1. Less clutter in your Inbox,

2. Digests are in plain text-mode (no HTML) and

will never include any attachments.

The disadvantage of “digest mode” is that it

naturally takes longer to scroll and read through a

single digest. But this is still faster than going

through 25 individual messages.

IMPORTANT NOTE - when replying to “digests” make

sure to trim and edit your email replies and change

the wording on the subject line from “Digest Number

xxxx”. Also you will have to edit the “To” line.

  • What is “Web-only / No-Email”?

This means that you will NOT receive ANY email

messages from the list. To read messages, you will

have to use your web browser (e.g. Firefox, Internet

Explorer, Netscape or Opera) and go to:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pinoyblogosphere/messages/

(you may bookmark the website link above).

When you choose “web-only” you can access the list

as you would an online forum. You read and reply to

messages online at the Yahoogroups website.

WARNING - You can access the list via the web, only

if you already have a Yahoo ID.

  • What is a “Yahoo ID”?

A Yahoo ID means that you are registered with

Yahoo and can access all their web services.

These services include - Yahoogroups, YahooMail,

LaunchPad, YahooGames, YahooMessenger, etc.

A Yahoo ID is usually tied to a YahooMail account,

though you do not have to actively use this email

account if you don’t want to.

To get a Yahoo ID —

1.) Go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/

2.) Click on “New Users - Click here to register”

(at the upper left corner of your screen)

3.) Follow the prompts and fill-out the forms.

  • Can i Change Delivery Options Online?

Yes, if you already have a Yahoo ID, you can

change delivery options for ALL your Yahoogroups

lists by going to:

http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups?sort=m&order=a&page=1&edit=1

  • What if i have More Questions?

Email the list moderators directly by sending a

message to: pinoyblogosphere-owner@yahoogroups.com

PBS “Spam” Solution for Y!Mail and GMail Users (Pls. Follow)

Dear PBS Members,

As a member of PBS Y!Group myself, I used to have problems with the flood of e-mails from this group. Since our early days, it was not an issue for me but when the group grew to 500+ to 900+ members, I finally had to find a solution on this problem without the option to block e-mails from this group.

Well, the creators Y!Mail and GMail were smart enough to create what we call as FILTERS. It’s when you create folders in order to sort incoming mail with just putting the right information. I learned it during my college days as an active org member in 5 organizations in the Ateneo and I just had to sort all information in 6 different folders. The good thing about creating filters is that it is easy and the benefits are really great. The bad thing about the creators of Y!Mail and GMail is that they haven’t properly disclosed the way how to create filters to layman users. ^_^

I hope I can put a smile on the faces of PBS users who were suffering from e-mail floods. ^_^ So we start making filters for Y!Mail and GMail now…

What are filters? / Using filters

It seems that most of the group member are not filtering their emails
yet. If you receive 100+ emails per day, life is a mess managing
those emails. the best solution is to create filters and group them.

For example, if you receive 20+ emails from [PBS], you can create a
folder on your Inbox to automatically redirect those emails to the
folder you created.

In that way, its up to you to read those emails or not since you
already know that they are from [pbs]
